SHIPLAKE

Shiplake College was founded in 1959 as a school for 120 boys, although the buildings date from the 18th and 19th century with later additions.

The School now has approximately 325 boys, both day and residential.

The College is based on Shiplake Court and its estate buildings, including the boathouse, the Tithe Barn and Stable Block.

The well-known Victorian architect, Ernest George, designed the main building. Shiplake College is approximately 3km from the centre of Henley-on-Thames , an attractive riverside town, famous for the Henley Royal Regatta held each year at the beginning of July.

Following the Regatta there is a festival of music and literature which takes place in marquees erected along the banks of the river. A bus service runs between Reading and Henley on Thames passing the entrance to the College. Local railway station at Shiplake with connections via Twyford to both Reading and London Paddington.
